ROTARY clubs in Worcester have again joined together to deliver festive food parcels to needy people in the city.
Volunteers spent the early part of December collecting cash and food to bring Christmas cheer to those in need.
The Christmas Parcel Project, which has been running for more than 40 years, had the support of the Mayor of Worcester, Roger Berry.
Over the last week, members of Worcester, Worcester Severn, Worcester South, Worcester Vigornia and Worcester Wychavon Rotary clubs have been delivering them to grateful recipients.
Sue Fitzjohn, publicity officer for Worcester Vigornia Rotary, said members had been overwhelmed by the generosity of people.
She said: “We collected more than £1,000 in cash as well as lots and lots of tinned and packaged food, meaning we were able to deliver to more than 900 homes all around Worcester.
“The people of Worcester are so generous, especially in these times when everyone is finding it hard.
“We have been doing this 40 years and the support that we continue to get is just amazing.”
