Gritters out on Worcesteshire roads as freeze is expected
GRITTERS will be out and about on county road tonight as temperatures are expected to fall below freezing.
And Worcestershire County Council is urging motorists to take care on the roads overnight. The gritting fleet will be covering the primary routes around the county from 7pm. West Mercia Safer Roads Partnership has advised drivers to take extra care when out on the roads, and never assume it is safe to drive at normal speeds even if the road has been gritted. Motorists are advised that before making a journey for up-to-date weather information they should visit the Met Office website.
For the latest information regarding flooding advice, visit the Environment Agency website. And for the latest road closures and bus service updates across the county visit the alerts on the County Council homepage: www.worcestershire.gov.uk. If anyone spots a problem on the roads, they can get in touch with the council via www.worcestershire.gov.uk or the Worcestershire Hub on 0845 607 2005.
Gritting advice is available at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/gritting. The dedicated section allows visitors to use interactive maps to follow the designated routes, pinpoint their nearest grit bin and report any problems via the web.
Information will also be tweeted from the County Council's Twitter account www.twitter.com/worcscc (@worcscc).

That's what WE pay them for isn't it?

In fairness to the Council, they seem to have played a blinder keeping the roads ice-free during the last cold snap.
