County blanketed by snowfall

Blanket of snow falls across the county Blanket of snow falls across the county

PEOPLE in Worcestershire have woken up to a blanket of snow this morning.

The Met Office predicted between two and five centimetres (1-2ins) of the white stuff was set to fall across the county overnight.

Worcestershire County Council's fleet of gritters were out treating roads from 2pm yesterday as temperatures plunged to -2.

However, it seems the snow could be short lived with heavy rain due to hit the county from mid-morning.

While the current conditions are posing some problems for drivers, I saw very little evidence this morning of the roads being gritted. Have the highways department been caught napping again, or have they not bothered which is often the case too?

FFS. Here we go again. I drove 16 miles to work on A and B roads. Every mile was gritted.

From what I've seen, the Council has played a blinder, gritting.

I saw a lorry out last night, and the roads seem fine this morning, as they have been during all the recent cold snaps.

By all means criticise the Council on the many, many occasions when it's justified, but they deserve praise for the things they get right.

Obviously ,if the gritters were out this morning that would be too late. I saw 2 going down Deansway at 5pm last evening so they were out early and on the ball. All credit where it is due. Well done Council - managers and drivers.
