A MAN has been treated for the effects of smoke inhalation after a severe fire in a Worcester house.

The male casualty was treated by paramedics after a blaze broke out at a property in Dove Close, Tolladine, shortly before 1.30pm today, but he was not taken to hospital.

Three crews from Worcester Fire Station attended the scene and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the ground floor fire.

Station commander Bob Sproat said: “The firefighters worked quickly and professionally to bring the fire under control and to stop it spreading through the house. Thankfully the fire was contained to the ground floor.”

The fire crews visited neighbouring properties to talk to residents about fire safety in the home.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
