Man is arrested after two cars are involved in chase
7:40am Wednesday 16th January 2013 in News By Neil Watts
A MAN has been arrested after two cars were involved in a chase along the main road between Worcester and Malvern.
The road rage incident is believed to have been between the driver of a Jaguar and a VW Polo, starting in Powick and coming to an end at Malvern Link.
It progressed along the A449 between about 3pm and 3.40pm yesterday. Both vehicles are thought to have come to a stop near Malvern, when the driver of the Jaguar is believed to have assaulted the other driver before driving off.
The Jaguar was stopped by police officers in the car park of the Lidl supermarket and the driver, who is in his 40s, was arrested for a public order offence, affray, resisting arrest and possession of an offensive weapon, which is believed to be a large metal torch.
The other driver had not been tracked down at the time of going to press.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “We would like to appeal for any witnesses who saw any part of this incident and we would especially like to hear from anyone with a home or business along the A449 who may have CCTV images of the two cars as they passed.”
Anyone with information should call police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 356s 15/01/13, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
