A CYCLIST was taken to hospital with a spinal injury following a crash in Worcester.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which happened at about 7.50am yesterday.

A woman, thought to be in her 40s, was cycling down Bath Road towards the city centre when she collided with a black Peugeot 407 turning out of Greenway Drive, a new road that emerges at the Cherry Street traffic lights.

The cyclist was treated by paramedics and taken to the Worcester Royal Hospital where she is receiving treatment for a spinal injury.

PC Richard Foxall, who is investigating the incident, said: "We need to speak to anyone who was in the area, especially people going to work or school along Bath Road just before 8am, who may have seen this incident.

"It may not have appeared that bad a collision, but the cyclist has received a potentially serious injury and we need to speak to anyone who was there at the time."

PC Foxall can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the reference number 57s 16/01/13.
