National round-up
Fresh snow will hit parts of the UK overnight, bringing further risk of traffic disruption, forecasters warned.
South and east Wales, southern England and the Midlands will see the worst of the flurries, which will fall on top of snow still frozen after several days of cold weather.
Temperatures dropped to as low as minus 12.2C (10F) last night in eastern and southern parts of England, according to the Met Office, which still has an amber weather warning in place for England.
Almost 40 flights have been cancelled at Heathrow today, the airport said.
The heavy snow and frost have so far claimed the lives of seven people, including a postman who, Royal Mail confirmed, died while carrying out his rounds during the weekend's freezing temperatures on Exmoor in Somerset.

A man who was attacked after urging youths not to throw snowballs at toddlers and elderly pedestrians may be scarred for life, police have said.
The victim, aged in his early 20s, required emergency treatment, including eight stitches, at a specialist clinic after suffering a serious ear injury in Bromsgrove yesterday.
Police said the victim was repeatedly punched in Mill Lane at about 3.25pm by a white youth who left the scene on a bus.
PC Simeon Darrall-Jones of West Mercia Police said: "This was clearly a nasty and unprovoked attack on a young man who was simply trying to prevent some elderly people getting injured."

MORE snowfall is predicted to be on the way, with up to 7cm possible overnight on higher ground.
Worcestershire County Council's gritting teams will continue the battle to keep the county moving, with gritting teams already out covering designated routes.
Once primary routes are completed, snow ploughs will be fitted to vehicles to help clear away accumulated snow and slush to give drivers the best possible conditions for Wednesday morning.
Forecasts say occasional flurries of snow and sleet may arrive as the afternoon goes on, which may turn heavier from about 10pm.
Accumulations of 2-4cm are possible in most areas.
Latest Met Office forecasts indicate the last of the snow should fizzle out during Thursday afternoon, followed by a clearer night with a hard frost persisting until at least midnight on Friday.
Motorists are again being urged to drive with caution and reminded that, even if roads look clear, the freezing temperatures mean there is still a significant risk of ice.

MALVERN Hills District Council managed to complete at least 80 per cent of yesterday's household waste collection.
Please note during snow and adverse weather conditions it is not always possible to complete all routine refuse and recycling collections.
Due to the the snow and nature of the terrain across the district not all collections were possible - apologies to those people who we could not collect from.
•At present we advise residents to place your recycling and waste out at the kerbside nearest the main road as usual and if we haven’t managed to collect it by 4pm on your day of collection please store it until the following week when we will make a double collection if required
•If we haven’t managed to get our collection freighters and crew to you by 4pm please store the recycling and waste until next week
•We are happy to collect double the waste and recycling on the next scheduled collection day.
