A WORCESTER air cadet proved he could rise to the challenge when he hit the target during a shooting day.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Isaac Brady from 187 (City of Worcester) Squadron took part in the training day at RAF Cosford, firing a .22 rifle on the base’s range.

During the session he achieved a perfect 70 from 70 score across four disciplines on a 25-metre range, gaining a regional marksman badge.

Cadet Sergeant Brady said: ‘‘I was thrilled when I saw I’d placed all my rounds within a bulls-eye ring of an inch and a half in diameter, scoring me the maximum of 70/70 and earning me my regional marksman.”

Flight Lieutenant Andrew Smith, commanding officer of the squadron, said: ‘‘I’m really pleased for him.

“It’s a fantastic achievement which I know he has worked extremely hard for.’’ To secure the honour Cadet Sergeant Brady carried out a five-round grouping shoot, followed by a five-round deliberate shoot, a five-round snap shoot and a five-round rapid fire shoot.

The Air Cadets meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 7-9.30pm at the squadron unit in Perdiswell.
