Shining brightly on the world stage for 20 years

THE lights from the top of the television masts at Wychbold, near Droitwich are a familiar sight in the Worcestershire night sky.
But come down to ground floor level and there’s a company that’s shining even brighter on the world stage because the Iguana Group, which is based in the old BBC props department at the former transmitting station, builds and designs exhibition stands for events from Dubai to Los Angeles, Scandinavia to India. Iguana was set up by Chris Murphy in 1993 and this year celebrates 20 years of taking quality county craftsmen to the world.
“We handle shows in America, Europe, in the Middle East, India, Scandinavia, Japan, China, Taiwan and Australia with our own local guys travelling to install the stands,” said Mr Murphy.
“Contracts’ value for exhibitions can range from £30,000 through to £500,000 and we have now branched out into commercial interiors, mainly hair salons and some complete office re-fits.”
The company’s clients include Honda motorcycles, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Pace, which is the largest set top box manufacturer in the world, TIGI Hair products and Toni and Guy. Iguana started in Bromsgrove, but then moved to the former props store, which was derelict.
The building now contains modern sales and design offices upstairs and a full manufacturing facility downstairs. So if it decides to hold a themed party to celebrate its 20th birthday, there should be no problem providing a suitable setting.
