THE Environment Agency has this afternoon issued a flood alert for the River Avon from Salford Priors to Tewkesbury.
The alert states that at noon, the river level at the Evesham gauge was 1.75 metres and rising. A peak level of between 2 and 2.2 metres is expected to occur this evening.
Low lying areas of farmland and caravan parks between Evesham and Tewkesbury, and the B4080 at Eckington could be affected by flooding. Further wet weather is expected this evening.
