CROOME DELIGHTS: House officer Lucy Hadley with some of the historic exhibits on show to visitors for the first time
ITEMS from a historic collection at a country house in Worcestershire are being put on display for the first time.
Croome Court, near Upton, does not have any objects or furnishings on display as the house waits to be significantly repaired and instead holds a small collection in store, away from public viewing.
Most of the furniture that used to be in the house was sold by 1948 and lies in private collections and museums around the world.
“We intend to bring part of the collection back to the house in 2016 after major repair work is complete, but until then we would like to show our visitors some of the best bits from the collection we do have” said visitor services manager Lucy Hadley.
Among never-before-seen items on display until May 3 include paintings, ceramics, personal items from the Coventry family and various other oddments.
Croome Court is open from noon-3pm except Tuesdays.
