Getting fit can be lots of fun

CHILDREN can get fit and healthy with the launch of a new exercise club.
Energy Club, a new extra-curricular programme for children aged four to 11, launched at the River School, Worcester. Staff and children were joined by city mayor Councillor Roger Berry and mayoress Jill Berry for the launch of the new scheme, which the school is offering free to pupils.
The before and after school club, which is currently being rolled out across England, provides a legacy from the Olympic and Paralympic games by encouraging young children to exercise more.
Headteacher Carol Parry said: “It’s been great for the pupils to get involved with Energy Club.
“I can’t recommend enough that other schools in our region get involved, it’s completely free and offers so many benefits for the pupils.”
Energy Club is a volunteer-run scheme initiated by the charity and social enterprise Sports Leaders UK and is supported by the Cabinet office.
