SPA swimmers were amongst participants of all ages that dived in to raise cash for St Richard’s Hospice during the charity’s swimathon event.

Twenty four swimmers were sponsored per length in the splash for cash event which took place at New College, Whittington Road, Worcester, on Sunday, February 3.

Among the younger swimmers were James, 11, Ross, nine, and Jake Clews, eight, from Droitwich. James powered his way through the pool swimming more than 70 lengths in half an hour.

Sarah Patrick, community fundraiser, said: “It was a great atmosphere and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved. There were youngsters who had only recently learned to swim alongside very experienced swimmers. We are hoping the swimathon will raise around £2,500 for St Richard’s and want to say a big thanks to all those that took part.”

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families.
