COUNCIL staff dug out their finest woolly jumpers to raise money for Age UK and promote awareness of fuel poverty.
Pullovers ranging from retro 70s sweaters to dodgy Christmas jumpers were the order of the day as Worcestershire County Council held a Woolly Pully Day at County Hall.
Councillor Anthony Blagg, cabinet member for the environment, said: “We have raised an amazing £375 so far and expect this to rise as more donations come in.
“Age UK will be able to use these funds towards initiatives alleviating fuel poverty and to ensure that older people are able to manage their fuel bills and have a good quality of life.”
One in five Worcestershire households is believed to be in fuel poverty. The Warmer Worcestershire Network and Age UK are working to improve energy efficiency with initiatives such as free energy checks.
