A VOLUNTEER group that looks after Droitwich Spa’s canal network has been visited by an assessor from the Canal and River Trust.
The visit took place on Friday, February 8 after The Droitwich Waterways (Pamela May) Trust applied for a renaissance award from the national organisation.
These are given out to projects which help to bring the waterways and canals of the country into wider public use and enjoyment.
Since the town’s canals were re-opened in July 2011, the Droitwich Waterways (Pamela May) Trust has created an organisation and trained around 18 skilled skippers and crew members to provide cruises on the canals for the people of Droitwich Spa.
Canal and River Trust assessor Martin Cook met with volunteers and was shown the Pamela May trip boat.
