VICTORY against all-conquering Newcastle Eagles in the British Basketball League Trophy last Friday was the highlight of my time at Worcester Wolves and possibly in the club’s history.

Context is everything and we won a quarter-final at the home of the defending champions in front of 3,500 people.

It was a magnificent effort from everybody involved and it give us an opportunity now to make a final which is absolutely fantastic for the club, squad and supporters.

I said to the players after the game that when we put our minds to it we’re as good as anybody in this league and it was a great team performance.

You have some sides that have one or two individuals who can get the job done but I like my teams to do it all together and not rely on any one or two players.

Although Alex Owumi had a massive game for us by scoring 34 points, it really was a fantastic team effort because of all the work that was going on around him — Arturas Masiulis scored 19 points and Stan Ocitti 13.

I think the win sends a message to other clubs of what we’re capable of but we need to keep our feet on the floor.

We were only able to achieve that victory because we’d worked so hard in practice and stuck to the game-plan.

As soon as somebody breaks that link we could find ourselves struggling against teams we should beat.

From now until the end of the season it’s about trying to make sure everybody shows up to play every game by putting in their best effort.

That starts tomorrow when we host Mersey Tigers (7.30pm) followed by a second home match against London Lions on Saturday (7pm).

I haven’t experienced two home games in 24 hours before but we’ve got a bit of a fixture backlog coming up now.

We’re also going to have to rearranage the Manchester Giants game on March 1 because of the Trophy semi-final first-leg against Leicester Riders.

You could say we are a victim of our own success at the moment which is a nice problem to have.

We would rather be playing in these games and competitions than be watching other teams so we’re not going to moan about it too much.

Looking ahead to the Leicester clash, we’ve played them twice away from home this season and we haven’t done well against them yet.

The first leg at the University of Worcester is going to be massive for us because the tie could be won in one game.

I think we’re playing really well right now and have proven to ourselves, as well as everybody else, that we can compete with anybody.

Who knows with Leicester? They may take us lightly and think they’ve got the trophy already won — but hopefully we’re going to have a say about that.
