FIREFIGHTERS tackled five blazes this weekend, all involving real fires or woodburning stoves.
On Sunday morning (February 17), two crews from Malvern were called to a woodburning stove fire in Blackmore Park Road, Malvern. Later on Sunday night, a crew from Kidderminster extinguished a chimney fire at a house in Areley Court in Stourport-on-Severn.
Over the weekend three other fires were put out in St Weonards and How Caple in Herefordshire and in Caunsall, Kidderminster.
Alan Haley, station commander from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service community safety department said the incidents highlighted the importance of cleaning chimney’s regularly and before fires are lit.
