BEHIND the scenes tours at a Worcestershire museum will give visitors the chance to get up close to objects never before put on public display.

Visitors to Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle will get a private tour of the museum's huge off-site stores with the Museum's Collections Officers.

Thousands of interesting objects will be on display, illustrating Worcestershire's history through the ages and there will be the chance to see inside the furniture, costume and archaeology pods.

Some of the more unusual and unique items the public will be able to see range from a mummified cat to a waistcoat worn by Worcester born Music Hall star Vesta Tilley.

The tours begin in April and will take place on the first Wednesday of the month until October between 11am and 12.30pm. Tickets, costing £6, must be booked and are on sale now on 01299 250416.

Rachel Robinson, Visitor Experience Manager said: “These tours offer a great chance to learn more about the work of the Museum and the many treasures we care for.”
