A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after her car hit a tree closing a Worcestershire road this morning.

The crash happened on the Martley Road, Great Witley, at around 7.37am.

The woman, believed to be in her late teens, was treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The black Ford Fiesta is said to have hit the tree sideways on causing the driver minor injuries.

The B4197 between Martley and Great Witley remains closed in both directions and recovery work between the B4204 in Martley and the A443 Worcester Road in Great Witley is taking place.

Police say the road is affected by black ice, although the cause of the accident is not yet known. The road will remain closed until it has been gritted.
