PUPILS at a Hanbury school have bounced into its record books after raising an impressive amount for a children’s charity.

As part of a national fund-raising campaign 116 youngsters participated in a marathon sponsored bounce at Hanbury First School.

The children from the School Road-based school took turns to bounce for one minute on a bouncy castle, with the children challenged to achieve as many jumps as possible.

The youngster’s efforts raised more than £1,700, which is being donated to the NSPCC.

Andrew Payne, the school’s headteacher, said: “We were overwhelmed by the children’s enthusiasm for this event and from the outset, they were determined to raise as much money as possible.

“Thanks to their amazing efforts, we’ve broken school fund-raising records and it’s great to think that our pupils are helping make a difference to the lives of other, less fortunate children in the UK.”

Kia Giles, from the NSPCC, visited the school to present badges to everyone who took part.

“Considering the size of this school, the amount the pupils have raised is staggering.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part.”
