A PROJECT to help older residents live healthier and more independent lives has been successful at winning funding.

The project will be run by Wychavon District Council and will be partially funded by Worcestershire County Council’s Ageing Well project.

The scheme will be largely based around outreach work via door knocking, roadshows at events and will develop mobile drop-in sessions for a range of services.

David Manning, project manager at the council, said: “We know there are a lot of older residents in isolated rural areas that are not accessing all the services they need. This could be anything from health services to low impact fitness classes. “Rural populations make up a large percentage of our communities, so we’re keen to prioritise these residents in this way. We’re looking at better ways to provide these services that don’t rely on residents having to come to us.”

The project will start in April and will run initially for three years.
