Fire closes London Road, Worcester. Reports that window cleaner rescued residents

  • ONE person was rescued from a fire in a house in Sebright Avenue this morning.

  • London Road and Sebright Avenue were closed for more than an hour while the blaze was tackled.

MEMBERS of the public and fire crews were praised by Watch Commander Adrian Farmer for their effort at the fire in Sebright Avenue today.

The fire began shortly after 9am this morning and fire crews arrived tackling a well established blaze.

One man was rescued from an upstairs room by members of the public who managed to get a ladder to him. 

Although no one was injured in the fire, three people were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhallation.

London Road and Sebright Avenue were closed while fire fighters tackled the fire. 

The fire has now been fully extinguished.

There was another serious fire near this spot in September of last year.

The Seacrest Fish Bar caught fire and London Road was again closed.

No one was hurt, but two pets were rescued from the flat above the chip shop.

Thank god for the window cleaner being in the right place at the right time should be award with a medal
