Gritters heading out as temperatures drop

GRITTERS are set to head out tonight due to a predicted drop in road temperatures.

Breaks in the cloud are likely overnight, giving the possibility of road surface temperatures dropping below freezing. Ice is not expected to form on roads as conditions are generally remaining dry. However, there is a low risk of a patchy frost in places where drizzle has been more extensive.

Worcestershire County Council’s gritters will be going out from 6pm this evening to treat all primary routes, paying extra attention to areas which are identified as needing additional grit. The fleet will then remain on standby over the weekend, with weather conditions being monitored in case further treatment is needed.

Drivers are once again urged to drive with caution, ensuring they temper their driving according to the conditions, and ensure they maintain a safe distance between themselves and other vehicles to allow for additional breaking distance when roads are wet or icy.

Residents can keep up-to-date with by following the county council's Twitter account @worcscc.

Latest information on any disruption to public transport and services will be available at worcestershire.gov.uk

Do we really need these continued repeated stories every time the gritters are unleashed???

And why do we need two stories about this an hour apart with different headlines? This duplication of stories seems to be happening more frequently. Is no-one editing the website?

Desperation appears to be setting in in the search for new stories.
When "man gets dodgy supermarket curry" is the front page headline you know things are bad.
