Crews tackle industrial estate fire
FIREFIGHTERS were last night called to a blaze at a joinery at a Malvern industrial park.
Crews were called to Merebrook Industrial Estate, Hanley Road, Welland, at just after 8.30pm last night.
Six appliances - two from Worcester, two from Ledbury and two from Malvern - attended and found a fire in a pile of wood had spread to a 40m x 10m single storey unit comprising of a joinery, workshops and a fibre glass production plant.
Firefighters initally used five hose reels and two jets to extinguish the blaze, but their presence was later scaled back to two appliances.
There were concerns asbestos in the roof had also caught fire, but this confirmed not to have been affected.

The registration numbers are a clue!

Sorry to be a bit of an anorak in these matters, Maggie, but both appliances are still with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. They are both Mercedes machines and as Hereford and Worcester have only two of them and neither are at the three fire stations which attended the Merebrook fire, my suspicions were aroused and I looked it up. Yes, very sad I know but I don't get out much!

Brightened up my day, anyway!
