Nikki Hudson is preparing to take on a gruelling charity challenge
A WYCHBOLD woman who has undergone a total hip replacement is set to take on a gruelling obstacle course in aid of a charity close to her heart.
Nikki Hudson, 33, from Baxter Drive, is preparing to take on the Tough Mudder challenge, a course designed by the British special forces that features 12 miles of 32 mud covered obstacles. She will have to fight through fire, plunge into icy water, crawl through underground tunnels and under dangling wires charged with 10,000 volts of electricity.
Nikki, who also used to be housebound and weighed nearly 20 stone before her operation in 2009, will attempt the feat on Saturday, May 4.
She will be raising cash for male cancer charity Orchid after her partner Paul suffered from Testicular cancer before they met.
She said: “My partner has had cancer and I really want to get funds for this particular charity as most people don’t know male specific cancer charities exist.
“I have never done anything like this before and probably won’t again. It will be a challenge due to my hip replacement but I feel I have come a long way and am determined to give it my best shot.
“My surgeon said I can do anything I want so I thought I’d do the hardest thing I could think of.”
Anyone who would like to sponsor Nikki can visit her fundraising page at justgiving.com/Nikki-Hudson2

However you should ask your doctor if such strenuous endurance is the way to go for exercise, since at your young age you will more than likely need a further hip replacement when you are a little older, as I am finding. .
