Tributes paid after death of long-serving councillor

TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of Worcestershire County Council’s longest-serving councillor.

Bob Bullock passed away on Friday, March 1 following a period of ill-health.

Councillor Bullock served the people of Worcestershire for almost 40 years, having been elected to Hereford and Worcester County Council in April 1973.

Following the re-organisation of local government he was then elected to serve on Worcestershire County Council, representing the constituency of Croome until his death.

During a long and distinguished political career, Councillor Bullock held numerous senior positions within the council.

Leader of Worcestershire County Council, Councillor Adrian Hardman, said: "Bob was very much a Worcestershire man, and had immense pride in his county and city. He will be much missed."

Councillor Derek Prodger MBE knew Councillor Bullock since the 1980s, serving alongside him on the Hereford and Worcester Fire Authority.

He said "He had wide knowledge on many subjects and I enjoyed many happy times with him."

The funeral will take place on Thursday, March 14 at 2pm St Mary's Church, Kempsey, followed by cremation at Worcester Crematorium.
