Turkey lorry overturned on Worcestershire road
ABOUT 800 turkeys had to be rescued yesterday when a lorry carrying them overturned on a Worcestershire road.
The accident involving the lorry of birds happened at around 3.11am on the A44 near Church Lane, Broadwas.
Two fire crews attended with an incident support unit from Droitwich and an environmental unit from Stourport.
A specialist environmental grab pack was also used to prevent 300 litres of fuel entering the water course.
The road was closed in both directions while the birds were collected and it re-opened shortly after 10am.
One casualty was treated at the scene of the accident.
