Campaigners protest against Yew Tree Hill development plans
3:50pm Tuesday 2nd April 2013 in News
CAMPAIGNERS were out in force to make their feelings known when planning chiefs visited a proposed development site to the south of Droitwich Spa.
Residents living near Yew Tree Hill and members of the Save Our Green Open Spaces (SOGOS) campaign group gathered on Thursday, March 28 to display banners against plans to build nearly 800 homes in the area.
A large group of people met in response to members of Wychavon District Council’s planning committee visiting Yew Tree Hill ahead of making a decision on two applications for the site.
Barberry Droitwich Ltd has put forward plans for its 500-home Yew Tree Village scheme, which includes an indoor bowls facility, while Persimmon Homes have applied to build around 260 other dwellings near the same location.
A spokesman from Wychavon District Council confirmed that a site visit took place and that both housing applications will be discussed at the same time by the authority’s planning committee. It is possible that the schemes will come before committee members on Thursday, April 25.
Further details on the applications can be found on the planning section of Wychavon District Council’s website or on the website of the Save Our Green Open Spaces group at saveyewtreehill.org.uk
