A TENTH man has been charged in connection with John Anslow's escape from a prison van which had just left HMP Hewell in Redditch.

The 29-year-old from Liverpool was questioned by officers yesterday in the Milton Keynes area and was charged this morning with conspiring to assist with the escape from lawful custody of Anslow in January 2012.

The man is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 9.

Last month, nine other men appeared in court charged with the same offence and Anslow himself was also charged with conspiracy to escape from lawful custody following his return to the UK from Cyprus, where he had been arrested before being deported for immigration offences.

Anslow had been at large since escaping from a prison escort van near HMP Hewell, Redditch, where he was being held after being charged with the murder of Richard Deakin in Chasetown, Staffordshire, in July 2010.

He is still to face court proceedings regarding the murder charge.
