TWO teenage women were “cowardly” attacked with a glass bottle during an early hours nightclub assault.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident, which happened in the R’n’B room at Tramps nightclub in Angel Place, Worcester, at about 1am on Monday when an 18-year-old woman was struck in the face by an unknown woman holding a glass bottle in her hand.

A 20-year-old friend of the initial victim tried to step in to protect her friend and was also hit with the bottle.

One of the women suffered a bloody nose while the other suffered a 2.5cm cut to her eyebrow which required hospital treatment.

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the assault and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Jan Timberlake, who is investigating the assault, said: “This appears to be a cowardly attack where a woman has used a bottle to inflict harm.”

He added: “We will not tolerate this type of incident in Worcester and therefore I would like to speak to anyone who was at Tramps on Sunday night into Monday morning and either saw this assault or who has any information about the woman responsible.”

Anyone with information should call police, quoting incident 222S 010413, on the non-emergency number 101.
