A MAN is in a serious but stable condition and another has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash in Worcester.

The man, who is in his 20s, is believed to have been the front seat passenger in a silver Peugeot 206, which was reportedly involved in a crash with a silver Mercedes Sprinter van in Tolladine Road, Worcester, at about 2.40am on Saturday.

He suffered serious head, chest and pelvic injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The car driver, also a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and following interview was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The Peugeot is reported to have been travelling down Tolladine Road, with the Mercedes at the junction of Rose Avenue at the time of the crash.

Police Constable Matthew Leader, who is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, appealed for anyone who might have seen the collision itself or the manner of driving by either vehicle involved immediately beforehand to contact police on 101.

Officers are also examining CCTV footage from the area.

Both vehicles were recovered from the scene by police and the road was closed for several hours before being re-opened at about 8.15am that same day.
