SHOPPERS were stopped in their tracks after a flash mob broke into song in HMV Worcester this afternoon.

The singers, including members of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society (WODS), gave an impromptu rendition of Do You Hear The People Sing? from the musical Les Miserables.

Bemused customers as well as a confused group of exchange students watched on as the flash mob performed the stirring anthem as part of a national Guinness World Record attempt.

Mobile footage of the performance, which coincided with the release of the film on DVD, will be uploaded to the official Les Miserables official Facebook page in an attempt to become the First Official Mass Participation Performance of a Song From Les Misérables.

Sian Williams, from WODS, helped to organise the event and said she was overwhelmed with how well it had gone.

"It went much better than I thought it would .

"So many more people turned up and it sounded really good as well."
