A BIKER who always thought he was unlucky is riding high after winning his very own dream machine.

Paul Sheppard, of Mill Street, Worcester, was the lucky winner in a prize draw run by motorcycle insurance firm Carole Nash.

In return for getting a bike insurance quote, the 45-year-old was entered into the company’s One Bike, One Vision, One Winner draw which offered £15,000 to buy a bike and a further £10,000 for accessories.

“I didn’t believe it to be fair because good things don’t happen to me,” said Mr Sheppard. “I thought there must be a catch. I’m the sort of person who wouldn’t win a raffle if I bought all the tickets.”

After realising that he had won, Mr Sheppard and his wife Alison set about planning how to spend their biking budget. “We road-tested a few bikes, but when we got a chance to go out on the new BMW 1200 GS Tourer it was love at first ride.”

Having selected the bike, the pair then set about looking how to spend their £10,000 accessories budget.

“We’re planning on some long distance riding so we chose things to make it as comfortable as possible,” said Mr Sheppard.

He entered the draw after seeing a Carole Nash advert in his MotorCycle News and getting a multi-bike insurance recommendation from a friend.

He will spend the budget on comfortable extras such as adjustable foot-rests and a high windscreen. With the bike delivered and protected with an anti-theft alarm and Carole Nash’s DNA+ forensic coding security, the couple are planning some classic biking tours.
