EVERYONE’S invited to get ‘in the mood’ for some 1940s nostalgia when the Severn Valley Railway holds two weekends remembering life in Britain during the Second World War.

There will be historic vehicle convoys on both days of the railway’s step back to the 1940s weekends which are being held today and tomorrow and again on July 6 and 7.

Visitors will be able to enjoy an array of historic cars, motorcycle outriders and military vehicles which will be carrying some very familiar faces – King George VI, Sir Winston Churchill and General Montgomery.

The convoy will be travelling from Kidderminster station to Highley station, near Bridgnorth.

The Severn Valley’s Clare Gibbard said: “If anyone has a flag, please do bring it and wave us on as we pass, give us a cheer or come and meet everyone when we stop at Bewdley along the way – we would love to see you.”

Evening VE Day celebration concerts will be held tonight and next Saturday and will feature a short firework display and a number of period acts.
