THE second man to die at a quarry near Malvern has been named by police.

Justas Juzenas of Three Crosses Road, Ross-on-Wye, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics after his body was recovered from the lake at Gullet Quarry, Hollybush, Ledbury, shortly before 7pm.

Formal indentification has taken place and relatives have been informed.

A post mortem was due to be held this morning and details have been passed to the Herefordshire Coroner who will open an inquest in the next few days.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and will present a report to the coroner in due course.

Russell O’Neill of Ronkswood, Worcester, died at same quarry lake on Saturday, July 6, and the body of a 20-year-old man from Staffordshire was recovered from the River Severn at Bridgnorth in Shropshire on Friday afternoon. Police are reiterating advice for people not to swim in rivers, lakes and ponds due to the dangers – particularly during the current hot spell. Cold water leading to cramp and incapacity, strong undercurrents and obstructions hidden beneath the surface such as debris and weeds are just some of the risks presented by open water.
