UPDATE 3.45pm: Magistrates have committed McGrath's case to Warwick Crown Court, where he will appear for his next hearing on July 30. He did not enter any pleas and was remanded in custody.
DETECTIVES have charged a suspect with rape following a six-day manhunt spanning England and Wales.
Daniel McGrath, who has connections to Worcester, Pershore and Evesham, was charged overnight with committing rape, assault by penetration and robbery.
He will before magistrates in Leamington today.
It follows a “traumatic” sexual attack carried out in the Shottery area of Stratford on the morning of Sunday, July 7.
Police in Warwickshire later confirmed they wanted to speak to 33-year-old McGrath, of Shottery Road, Stratford, in connection with the offence.
Searches were conducted in Worcester, Herefordshire and south Wales, involving officers from Warwickshire, West Mercia, South Wales and Dyfed Powys forces, as well as the British Transport Police.
Unemployed McGrath was arrested on Saturday in Swansea after he was spotted by a member of the public.
Yesterday, detectives were given more time to question him over the offences.
