THIS is the first book from Tia Publishing, a new children's book publishing company based in the Midlands.

The Adventures of Rocket Kid is written and illustrated by Simon Morse, who lives in Malvern.

This fun rhyming story is about Jimmy, a boy who wants to go to space. His mum teaches him the simple lesson, that with a little work and determination you can do anything if you try.

Jimmy has to overcome a mocking bully called Sully but he eventually realises his dream and meets some friendly aliens along the way.

It proved quite a long book for our two-year-old son to stick with but it kept his three-and-a-half-year-old buddy gripped and she loved the rhyme style and found the illustrations very amusing.

There is a useful page of questions at the end which she answered with surprising accuracy, which is testament to how gripped she was by the story.

The anti-bullying concept is commendable and, better than that, it doesn't become a moral rant about bullying.

One of Tia Publishing’s aims is to help motivate children and encourage them towards positive things and this is a great first offering.

As a bonus, 20p from the sales of the book go to the charity Rays of Sunshine.
