Stabbing suspect remanded in custody
A MAN has been remanded in custody after appearing in court accused of trying to kill a pregnant woman and her unborn baby.
Andre Omar Smith, of Hampstead Road, Great Barr, Birmingham, was brought before Kidderminster magistrates this morning.
The 24-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday, August 6. No application was made for bail.
Smith was charged last night in relation to a stabbing at Lea Street in the Comberton area of Kidderminster on Sunday night.
A 25-year-old woman was taken to hospital with knife wounds and remains in intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she and the unborn child are in a stable condition.
