A BAND won’t be feeling the blues after getting the seal of approval at a prestigious awards ceremony.
With a busy few months ahead, BabaJack, the blues-inspired duo of Becky Tate and Trevor Steger, tasted more success at the British Blues Awards 2013 during the Colne Blues Festival on Sunday, August 25.
For the second year running, Becky was named as instrumentalist of the year. The Malvern-based band also scored second place in the album of the year category with their third studio album Rooster, while Trevor came third in the bid to be named best harmonica player.
On top of this, the duo was placed third in the best acoustic act category. Miss Tate said: “We are so proud that BabaJack and our album Rooster have made such an impact on blues fans here, and now in Europe.
“We wrote the songs and put our very heart and soul into making this album, but it’s the performances, contributions and production that make it a reality.”
Their song Rooster Blues was also nominated in the best original song category.
Their fourth studio album, Running Man, is released on October 7 and a tour begins at London’s 100 Club on September 24, where they will perform with a full band and Julia Palmer-Price on cello.
