Dance duo bring touch of glamour to coffee event
AN Olympic athlete and a TV dancing star will be waltzing into a Worcester office next week to help staff with a charity fund-raiser.
Former hurdler Colin Jackson is teaming up with Strictly Come Dancing pro Erin Boag when the pair visit npower’s 380-strong workforce on Friday, September 27.
The aim of their visit to the Bridgwater Road base is to promote Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The pair scored success in front of millions of TV viewers back in 2005 when they reached the final of Strictly, losing out to former England cricketer Darren Gough and his partner Lilia Kopylova.
While at npower they’ll perform some of the routines which were a hit with the Strictly judges eight years ago. Staff will also take part in a bake-off, judged by the celebrity duo, with all cakes being sold to raise money for Macmillan.
“I can’t wait to swap my commentary box for the dance floor again and support npower and this fantastic cause,” said Colin, a three-time world champion hurdler who also clinched Olympic Silver at Seoul in 1988.
“Erin and I have been training hard to create a special routine which is sure to whip up a storm with staff.
“I’m also partial to homemade cakes, so I will definitely make the most of the judging by tucking into the treats like a true Olympian.”
Erin said she was looking forward to dancing with Colin again, adding that they’ve got some new moves to teach staff.
In 2012, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised a record-breaking £15 million for Macmillan Cancer Support.
