Student suffers serious head injury in unprovoked attack
A STUDENT suffered serious head injuries after he was assaulted in Worcester city centre during the early hours of this morning after leaving a popular bar.
The victim, who is in his late teens, was leaving Sin Nightclub in New Street at around 12.15am when he was approached by another man who punched him in the face.
The punch caused him to fall backwards and his his head on the road.
When he tried to get up he fell forwards, leaving him with multiple head injuries, including a fractured skull.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the unprovoked attack.
Detective Constable Craig Osborne from Worcester CID said: “This appears to have been a totally unprovoked attack in which the victim has been seriously injured.
“He has only been in Worcester for a couple of weeks and it is appalling to think that one of his first experiences of being out and about in the city has resulted in him ending up in hospital.
“We are carrying out an investigation to establish who is responsible for the assault and we are keen to hear from anyone who knows the identity of the offender.
“He is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of a slim build, and aged 18 to 19 years old. He was clean shaven and had dark hair which was longer on top and swept to the side. He was wearing a white polo shirt light blue jeans.
“Witnesses tell us this man was in a group of five or six other men, who all left the area and headed towards Bar 12 on The Cornmarket following the assault.”
