A WOMAN has had to be cut from her car so she could be lifted to safety after a crash with a lorry in St John's.

The incident, which involved a red Ford Fiesta and a white Isuzu lorry, happened in Bromwich Road at around 7.30am this morning.

The ambulance service called the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service after they learnt the driver had medical issues which meant she needed to be taken out of the car on a spinal board as a precaution.

The fire service attended and cut the roof off the car.

The Highways Agency also attended as there was damage to a lamppost on the side of the road.

The road has now been reopened and traffic is easing along the A449 which was partially blocked in both directions.
