A PROFESSIONAL internet poker player has burned 15,000 calories and raised more than £300 for charity by undertaking a ‘class marathon’ at his local gym.

Antony Lampitt, of Britten Drive, Malvern, took part in every gym class scheduled to run across seven days at the town’s PF2 Health Club,.

The 27-year-old said he had to over-eat to balance the calories he was losing from the fitness classes of which he did five a day throughout the week then three on Saturday and two on Sunday.

He said: “I asked the instructor who said no one had ever done all the classes in a week – they thought I was mad.

“I lost two kilos and had to eat loads of pasta, pasta, beef, chicken, and more pasta because I used about 15,000 calories from doing the classes alone.”

He did multiple spin classes, crossfit, tabata, bodypump and more, which are designed to keep the pulse high and make you use up about 500 calories for each session. The sessions lasted between 30 minutes and 90 minutes each.

Mr Lampitt, who is an ex-Royal Marine planning to return to the service, said that even during his military training he had never undertaken so much cardio before so found the challenge very difficult. The money raised will now be donated to Help for Heroes.

To top off his week of ultimate fitness, Mr Lampitt was also crowned PF2 champion for winning the PF2 annual challenge with his challenge partner, Lisa Chessman, a senior instructor and personal trainer.

“We came first by more than one minute in the gruelling challenge which really isn’t for the faint-hearted,” he added.

The team had to complete 14 steps of resistance, machine and weight training before anyone else. Donations are still being received through Mr Lampitt’s fund-raising website bmycharity.com/AntonyLampitt until Friday, January 10.
