Worcester News: Worcester Bridge was closed to traffic during the incident Worcester Bridge was closed to traffic during the incident

WORCESTER Bridge was closed for an hour last night because of concern for a man standing "on the wrong side" of it.

Police officers were called to the New Road bridge about 8pm and began talking to the man.

Ambulance and fire crews were also present.

"He eventually came back onto the right side of the bridge and was off the bridge by 9.25pm and taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital to be checked," said a West Mercia Police spokesperson.

"The road was re-opened to traffic shortly afterwards."

Traffic problems were reported at the time as the bridge was closed to vehicles.

As it would be, the article states he was not off the bridge until 21:25.

maybe there was a mistake originally and by the time you read the article it had been corrected.

When I approached the bridge from St Johns area around 9.20 pm the one side of the bridge was still closed with Traffic Cones and a Police Van, and with a Police Woman shutting off the Lanes.
So I went back along the New Road out of the city and across the Harrington Bridge, then onto City Walls Road, and home NO PROBLEM.
