THIS could be the image of a man who died after being in a collision with a HGV on the M42 in December.

The man has not yet been identified but police have released this poster including a photo.

A photograph of a distinctive key fob has also been released as officers seek information about the man who was on foot when he was the accident on the northbound carriageway at about 10.15pm on Monday, 16 December. It happened between Junctions 2 and 3 near Alvechurch.

The man, who was of Middle Eastern appearance, is thought to be have been aged around 40. He had brown eyes, a black goatee beard and short, black receding hair.

He was wearing black jeans with a black leather belt and silver coloured Thomas Burberry buckle. Under his jeans was a pair of black tracksuit bottoms. He was also wearing a navy blue, heavyweight denim jacket, a dark coloured jumper with a white vest underneath, and black Puma slip-on trainers.

Two Yale keys on a pink key fob were found on the body.

An inquest into the man's death was opened and adjourned on Tuesday, January 14.

Inspector Sion Hathaway said: “He was someone’s son, brother or father. Our inquiries so far would suggest that he may have been living in a hostel in the Sparkhill or Acocks Green area of Birmingham.

"The man had told staff he was born in France and spoke Arabic. There was also a suggestion that he may have previously lived in Wales at worked as a chef.

“It’s a real mystery and we would appeal to anyone who recognises him or the keys he had with him, or if they think they know who he might be, to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.”
