TWO pupils have received a school's first ever Magic Maker award.

Six year-old Ben Dance and Henry Bowkett, aged 10, received the award from Oasis Academy Warndon in Edgeworth Close, Warndon, Worcester.

The awards were handed out by Oasis principal Matt Meckin who said he wants to reward children for outstanding achievement or contribution to the school.

They were handed the trophies during a Special Achievement Assembly.

Henry said: “I feel happy and proud to be the first one to win it. My mum said she’s really proud of me too."

Ben received his award for an improved attitude to learning. The school says he has become a great role model to others in his class.

Henry, meanwhile, was handed his award because of his‘can do’ attitude, "second to none" manners and his commitment to attending school early each day to hand out registers to each class.

The awards will be presented to one child from Key Stage 1 and one from Key Stage 2 each week.
