Worcester's worst views sought

Worcester News: Can you find a worse view than this in Worcester? Can you find a worse view than this in Worcester?

HOMEOWNERS in Worcester are being encouraged to submit their entries to a competition looking to find Britain's worst view.

Online blind retailer DirectBlinds.co.uk is looking for those not lucky enough to wake up to the Malvern Hills, Gheluvelt Park or Croome Park.

The firm says entries can include a messy neighbour’s garden, an unattractive block of flats, graffiti or even a motorway.

“We often have customers coming to us looking for a blind to cover up a particular blot on the landscape that ruins the view from their home," said Nicolas Swift, joint managing director of DirectBlinds.co.uk

“This is the perfect opportunity for those who are gazing at an eyesore to step forward and send us their photos to be in with a chance of winning.”

Photos can be sent to @DirectBlinds via Twitter, the company's Facebook page or by emailing worstview@directblinds.co.uk

Worcester's worst view? I'd say Spetchley Road. Opening your blinds and seeing County Hall in all its parasitic glory every morning...

I had exactly the same thoughts myself. County Hall is an absolute dump, a truly awful blot on the landscape. And it's made worse by the fact it contains many parasitic money-grabbing leeches called council staff.

I,m surprised Worcester News can fall for such a trick. Direct blinds should try paying for an advert like the rest of us.

There's far too much free advertising on this website for businesses dressed up as 'news'. What if all of us who own our own business were to contact them with a 'story'. A precedent has already been set, so how could they refuse? I wonder what the Newsquest guidelines are on this?

I should have said I do not have a problem with charity events being publicised. More of that would be good.
