A series of 16 colourful banners will be hanging in Worcester Cathedral in February.

The exhibition called Art for Evensong by Ruth Dent will be on display in the Nave arches of the Cathedral from Saturday, February 1 to Thursday, February 27.

The show is a visual journey through Choral Evensong and celebrates the centuries old tradition of choristers and lay clerks singing Evensong every day.

The Dean of Worcester, the Very Reverend Peter Atkinson said: "Ruth Dent’s banners will help to highlight to all our visitors the central importance of prayer and worship in the life of this Cathedral, accompanied day by day by the richness of the English choral tradition.”

Choral Evensong is sung at Worcester Cathedral most evenings at 5.30pm, except for Thursdays and school holidays, and on Sundays at 4pm or 6.30pm and all are welcome.
