PEOPLE with old photos and memories from Droitwich from 1960 to 1990 have been asked to upload them to a Facebook page.

THe group Our Droitwich is creating an archive on the post-war expansion of the town and wants people from the town to go on a trip down memory lane.

Ian Parker, chairman of the Our Droitwich project, said: "It’s so important to collect and store some of these unique photos and people’s personal stories, as this was a time of great change.

"Droitwich went from being a small place where everyone knew everyone, to a much bigger town with about 10,000 new residents moving in during a 20 year period.

"People out there must have some wonderful photos of what went on, and we would love to see them."

Some personal pictures of old landmarks and the erection of new buildings have already emerged.

Anyone wishing to share their photos should sign up on the Our Droitwich Facebook page.

The project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the town council and strategic area partnership.

It is also collecting oral history interviews, maps and other important documents which chronicle the main period of expansion in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The archive will be kept in Droitwich Library and be available to the public and local schools.

Anyone who wants to volunteer for the group or have their story recorded should call Sue Broome on 01299 251512.
