A NURSING home in Kempsey has won a prestigious accolade for the quality of its care.

The Lawns Nursing Home in Main Road has been commended in the Gold Standards Framework (GSF), joining more than 400 homes across the country recognised for providing compassionate and high-quality care to residents as they reach the end of their lives.

The awards assess a number of areas including bringing down hospital admissions by providing residents with the care they need in-house as well as levels of family satisfaction and savings for the NHS

The homes manager Carol Harris said she was “delighted” to have received the award.

“We have always prided ourselves on the excellent care we provide our residents,” she said.

“GSF has helped us formalise this and take out care to the next level, ensuring that residents enjoy their lives receiving the high quality care they want in their chosen place right up to the end.”
